@tkm2261: Since many people will soon be heading to the US for PhD studies, I’m sharing a chart for international students on getting credit cards.

• First, obtain an SSN.
• Wait until you can see your credit score with your SSN on the Credit Karma app.
• Apply for a Discover card.
• Use it frequently.
• After about six months, apply for an Amex card.
• Once your credit history is established, consider applying for others.

Creating a US credit card:

• Not needed at the moment, but notes for future creation.
