Artificial Life, abbreviated as ALife, is a field of study that explores the question of “what is life?“. It deals with the complex system of life and encompasses a wide range of related disciplines and research areas. There are 13 main themes of research in ALife. Instead of focusing solely on the substances that make up living organisms, ALife aims to understand the principles behind the origins and mechanisms of life phenomena. In other words, it seeks to discover the “operating system” of life, which generates autonomy and evolution, but has yet to be found by anyone.
