University of Chicago

The University of Chicago has provided some frequently asked questions regarding college admissions on their website. In regards to essay responses, there is no strict word limit for the UChicago Supplement essays. However, it is suggested to aim for around 650 words for the extended essay and about 250-500 words for the “Why UChicago?” essay. While there is no set word limit, it is important to keep in mind that an overly wordy essay may not hold the reader’s attention indefinitely. The content and ideas in your writing are more important than the exact number of words used.

        • And there aren’t any particularly strong reasons why Mudd would be better than Chicago.
    • It might be possible to reuse some content from my Columbia essay for the Why Essay.
      • I can talk about the Core curriculum and mention that I’ve done some research.
    • As for the Extended Essay, I’ll just go with the flow.
