March 9, 2023, things I heard

• For CS, it seems Oxford is the main option.

• What’s the acceptance rate like?

  • Even really strong candidates can get rejected, so it’s best not to have high expectations, they say.
  • Roughly 50%, this year only 1 out of 3 got through.
    • Oh, that’s how it is (blu3mo)
    • I thought it would be worse, so it’s actually not bad at all (blu3mo)

• Regarding courses

  • CS Theory COMSW3261 and Fundies don’t seem to have equivalent courses at Oxford, so it’s better to take them earlier, they say.- Regarding LitHum and similar courses,
  • In other words, it is advisable to take these between sophomore years.
    • Well, it seems like they will be taken regardless.

• About the curriculum,

  • I heard that St. Anne’s website is easy to understand.
  • Actually, I don’t really understand the structure of Oxford.

• Concerning seniors,

  • Due to not being sent out during the pandemic, it seems that there are none in the recent 3 or 4 years.
    • I see, that makes sense (blu3mo).
  • Even though it’s difficult now, they mentioned that they can connect people again in Fall if contacted.
    • That would be helpful (blu3mo)(blu3mo)(blu3mo).

• It’s easier to get through with Full-Year.

• Thinking about applying with a fun vibe and motivated by the enjoyment of CS-Phil,

  • However, I think I should later calmly consider if it really suits me.
