Mathematics

This document discusses the topics covered in IB Math from the perspective of whether they are being taught or not. Please note that the information provided here may not be completely accurate and should be verified later.

  • Algebra

    • Polynomial theorem
    • Inequalities between arithmetic mean, geometric mean, and harmonic mean
    • Conditions for factoring
    • Remainder theorem for ax+b
    • (Work in progress)
  • Geometry

    • Conditions for triangles
    • Internal and external division
    • Division of lines and areas
    • Equations of circles
    • Trajectories
  • Trigonometry

    • Angle formed by two straight lines, addition formula for tanθ
    • Half-angle formula
    • Triple angle formula
    • (Work in progress)
  • Trends

    • The problem trends are generally different, so it is recommended to go through the charts.
    • Having knowledge does not guarantee the ability to solve problems.
      • The question patterns in IB are different.
      • Charts seem to be the best way to understand these patterns.

Old notes

  • Sequences

    • Calculation of deposits, etc.
  • Trigonometric ratios

    • Does not cover the topic of sin rule and 2R.
    • Does not cover the topic of the first cosine theorem.
    • Does not cover the conditions for the validity of a triangle.
    • Many problems assume that the formulas are known in advance (Is this also the case in IB?).
    • Does not cover the conversion of sinA = a/2R.
      • Even without knowing sinA/a = 2R, it is possible to solve problems by assuming sinA/a = X, which is a knowledge specific to IB, but such problems are not seen.
      • In charts, there are problems that cancel out 2R, such as p242.
    • Does not cover Heron’s formula.
    • Does not cover S=1/2(b)(c)sinA.
    • Does not cover inscribed circles.
