Particularly, it’s quite common to spend too much time on technical aspects that are not directly related to the contribution of the paper, including my own experience of failure. It’s like a hackathon-like feeling, where you start making things like, “Well, let’s just make it!” and then get into the details. It’s okay if it’s a hackathon or when you’re purely learning technology, but in research, especially in the case of an internship where you only have 2-3 months to publish in a top conference, it becomes quite challenging in terms of time.
