Normative Discussion

• It seems that arguments that assert something should be, rather than descriptive arguments that simply state something is, are called normative arguments.

• i.e. “should arguments”

• If we take the position that there is no absolute morality/norm/ethics, then there is no basis for normative arguments.

• However, it is still possible to believe in the ethics that serve as the foundation for normative arguments.
