    • At MIT, we bring people together to better the lives of others. MIT students work to improve their communities in different ways, from tackling the world’s biggest challenges to being a good friend. Describe one way in which you have contributed to your community, whether in your family, the classroom, your neighborhood, etc. (200–250 words, MIT Application)

  • Outline

    • First half
      • Story of solving a common problem with software
      • How to avoid just presenting what was created?
        • It would be good to mention the motivation behind it and the impact it had on oneself and the school.
    • Second half
      • Story of spreading it to others
  • What did you actually do in that community? (Tip: use active verbs like “organized” and “managed” to clarify your responsibilities).

  • What kinds of problems did you solve (personally, locally, or globally)?

  • What specific impact did you have?

  • What did you learn (skills, qualities, values)?

    • Expertise?
  • How did you apply the lessons you learned in and outside of that community?

  • Discussion on the concept of Civictech?

  • If there is no mention of GKADC in the Essay Scrapbox Proposal, it seems appropriate to write about it here.

    • If mentioned, focus on other topics such as poker chips, etc.
    • Oh, but it would be better to have a separate case for the CCC proposal, as it includes a lot of leadership stories.
