• In March 2022, I worked as an intern at Nota (now Helpfeel) and developed Scrapbox!

  • This page is a testimonial of my internship experience.

  • Things I want to talk about:

  • For more information about the Nota internship, please check out these past testimonials:

1. Fun in creating things to use

  • As a preface, I am a heavy user of Scrapbox
  • I realized that it is fun to develop a product that I myself use (blu3mo)(blu3mo)(blu3mo)(blu3mo)
  • What was fun:
    • Fun 1: Being able to create something I wanted
      • Implemented a feature that suggests links to external projects when typing [/ project-page name]
        • image
          • The fact that project name and page name can be in any order is a cool feature (blu3mo)
        • Although I didn’t have enough time to fully implement it, I was able to create something like this (blu3mo)(blu3mo)
      • External project links
        • @shokai: @blu3mo, an intern at Nota, created a feature that allows links and related pages to be connected for projects that are in my watch list even if I’m not participating in them.

        • This is an example where links from nishio-san’s scrapbox that I occasionally look at are displayed under my personal project.

        • image

    • Fun 2: Being able to fantasize
      • During the internship, I enjoyed fantasizing about the direction and future of the product’s features
      • I’ve always enjoyed thinking about these things for products, so it was a lot of fun
      • Moreover, I had unlimited access to the philosophies and trial and error written in the company’s internal Scrapbox, so my imagination was greatly enhanced
      • (This is just (blu3mo)‘s imagination), but I even thought about the possibility of extending it as a search box associated with [/ ]

2. Fun in the environment

  • Access to information
    • It was very enjoyable to have an environment where information is (available organized accessible) (blu3mo)(blu3mo)
      • Available:
        • Not just the conclusions, but also the process and reasons behind them
        • Naturally, the source of (/masui/増井俊之) is included
          • (Quoting the expression of (/daiiz/daiiz) in [/NotaAllStarsMeetup/Nota ALL STARS Meetup vol.3 Discussion and Q&A#623410bc97c29100005420dc](https://scrapbox.io/NotaAllStarsMeetup/Nota ALL STARS Meetup vol.3 Discussion and Q&A#623410bc97c29100005420dc))
          • There is something like a session where you can bask in the source of (/masui/増井俊之), and of course, the logs of those sessions are always available
      • Organized:
        • I really felt the power of Scrapbox in this regard
      • Accessible:
        • It was interesting, educational, and useful for development to be able to see the logs of past discussions about Scrapbox
    • It was fun to browse through various things even while working
      • TODO: Elaborate
      • I was able to learn what the sales, marketing, finance, HR, etc. teams were thinking, and personally, my understanding of the company deepened
      • There were also many interesting pages that were simply enjoyable as a fan- I got excited when I found the logs from when Scrapbox was named “Scrapbox” (?).
  • There is simply a lot to learn.
  • I like the atmosphere of constantly designing, maintaining, and operating the organization as if it were a product. (paraphrased from [shokai’s words], exactly as mentioned above) (blu3mo)(blu3mo)

  • Personally, this was quite an impressive point for me, and I thought that this kind of organization/environment is great.
  • There are no people who are in a state of mental stagnation.
  • “Meetings with unnecessary synchronous communication” are eliminated, but it doesn’t mean that communication is excluded.
  • There is communication and connection, and it was a very warm place.
  • I thought it was an environment that is perfect for me. (blu3mo)(blu3mo)

3. Other thoughts

(I will write my thoughts in a tweet-like manner that I forgot to write.)

  • As a Scrapbox fan, I get excited about various little things.

  • The moment I enter /nota

  • For Scrapbox fans, scrapbox.io/Nota is known as the birthplace or a mysterious unexplored region. (There are various theories.)

  • When you join Nota, you can see everything on scrapbox.io/Nota. I remember clicking on the invitation link with a solemn feeling on my first day of joining, after being hit by a nearby waterfall, meditating, and purifying my mind and body.

  • I strongly agree with the above. (blu3mo)(blu3mo)(blu3mo)

  • When Scrapbox runs locally.

  • image

  • I got excited when I was able to achieve behavior that couldn’t be achieved with UserScript.

  • UserScript allows you to achieve almost anything, so when I was able to do something that would be impossible without touching the backend, I got excited.

  • They were simply all good people.

  • It was fun to evangelize The Mist of the World, another favorite software of (blu3mo).

  • These are people who think about the experience and enjoyment of software.

  • I regret oversleeping for the first setup Zoom on my internship’s first day.

  • Maybe I can only work in companies with a fully flexible schedule. (blu3mo)

  • (Note: Nota has a fully flexible schedule, and we only had 2-3 Zoom meetings, including this one.)

  • As is often seen at the end of articles like this, I’ll include a recruitment link.
