Writing an editorial for a newspaper is different from writing a philosophical essay, and the latter requires the ability to write it.

The mid-term and final exams consist of short answers and questions related to arguments.

They test your understanding of the content.

Doing this along with UW seems overwhelming because there is too much writing. Maybe next semester.
