  • With 6 degrees of freedom (x, y, z, tilt, pan, roll), it is possible to move and rotate to any location.
  • In the case of a robot arm, having more than 6 degrees of freedom is beneficial.
    • This is because it creates redundancy.
    • It allows reaching a given position with multiple postures.
    • Human arms also have 7 degrees of freedom.
    • However, as redundancy increases (more joints, etc.), control becomes more challenging. #Robot
