Situated learning refers to the acquisition of skills and knowledge through involvement in various social activities. Specifically, it is a learning method in which individuals with specific goals form communities and engage in information exchange, information sharing, and teaching in both online and real-life settings in workplaces and learning environments. This concept was proposed by Jean Lave, an artificial intelligence researcher, and Etienne Wenger, an anthropologist, in their book “Situated Learning - Legitimated Peripheral Participation” in 1991. They argue that learning is a process of participating in a community, and initial participation is legitimate peripheral participation, which gradually deepens involvement and increases complexity. This learning method has recently gained attention due to the increasing use of social networking services (SNS) in companies.
