• The Philosophy of Hinduism in India

  • Brahman: The perceived entity

    • Object of perception
  • Atman: The perceiving entity

    • The one who perceives
  • Unity of Brahman and Atman

    • Brahman is immortal
      • Even if things other than oneself are damaged, it is not a problem because they are not oneself
    • By practicing, one can reach a state where one realizes that one’s entire self is essentially Brahman
    • If one can think that even if one’s body is damaged, it is the same as Brahman, then it is not suffering, right?
    • It’s like completely losing the sense of body ownership
    • I kind of understand (blu3mo)
      • I’ve thought about how if I can view the difficulty of running a marathon objectively, it wouldn’t be so painful, like a theoretical discussion
        • I’ve thought that if I practice, I might be able to do it
        • There seems to be a philosophy that aims for unity of Brahman and Atman along these lines
