The information factory announced on June 25th that it has formed a business partnership with getAbstract AG, a Swiss book summary service. As the first step in this collaboration, they will begin selling “getAbstract” in Japan.

The information factory operates a service called SERENDIP, which provides digests of books from various genres. In addition to Japanese books, they also introduce popular books from overseas that have not been translated into Japanese. This service is being increasingly adopted by businesses as a learning tool for business professionals, with companies like NTT, Japan Tobacco Industry, Fujifilm, and Mitsubishi Corporation incorporating it.

On the other hand, getAbstract offers a service that summarizes business books, articles, and videos compactly in English, German, and seven other languages. They have a library of over 20,000 summaries and have more than 10 million members, with adoption by over a third of Fortune 500 companies.

By starting sales of getAbstract in Japan, the aim is to provide a learning tool for foreign employees and an information acquisition tool for Japanese employees. It is also seen as an effective tool for practical foreign language learning for business purposes.

getAbstract offers a two-month free trial period, during which users can access over 20,000 compact summaries of business books and TED Talks. The number of users who can access the content is unlimited. The cost of the subsequent paid version varies depending on the subscription plan.
