Kineto

  • When proposing, I mentioned shooting classroom videos with a 360-degree camera.

  • In terms of thought process:

    • Original idea before Kineto: Manipulating time while wearing VR
    • If I’m writing on an iPad, the camera will be blocked, so an external camera is necessary.
    • Since I already have the original idea, using a 360-degree camera seems to have many advantages:
      • It can capture not only the content discussed with the teacher but also the students’ videos.
      • It can also be developed for VR.
    • However, the cost of the camera cannot be ignored (issue):
      • It is expensive and necessary for all users (or one per class).
  • Although I had this kind of thinking, I came up with an alternative idea (which was ultimately rejected):

    • Place a mirror tilted just below the iPad’s camera to enable forward-facing recording.

      • Make it like a case.
    • Image illustration (I drew it exaggeratedly, it won’t be that thick):

      • image
    • It seems to work well if I try placing a mirror.

    • I’ll buy a mirror sheet from the 100-yen shop and try it out.

    • Possible challenges I can imagine:

      • If shooting from desk level, there may be obstacles.
      • This would be the same even with a 360-degree camera placed on each individual’s desk.
        • Either way, if the iPad idea doesn’t work, it would be something like transmitting from a hub provided by the teacher.
        • In essence, it wouldn’t be much different from Zoom.
        • In that case, Zoom would be fine; it’s easier than creating my own RTC (if time manipulation is possible).
    • The video quality is poor when watching the classroom video from the students’ seats (I felt this during Mr.Dwn’s class).

      • It seems impossible to achieve.
      • I think that it is impossible to attend a class unless the video is shot from the optimal position in the classroom.
        • When that happens, the meaning of it being 360 degrees is not really significant.
        • Well, maybe not.
        • There is a demand for the teacher to move around or see the reactions of the students.
          • Conclusion: It’s a balance between the high hurdle for popularization.
          • I should ask about it in Boost Meeting.
